We recently heard this great idea about leaving your car behind and taking the train to your vacation destination instead. It sounds like such a fun adventure, we’re hooked on the thought of it! Our family of six is currently planning ahead for a short three day two night summer trip to Santa Barbara by train and booking it through Pacific Surfliner. If you’re interested in a trip there as well, here’s what you need to know.

Santa Barbara, CA 93101
Staffed Station
With its Mediterranean-like climate, spectacular beaches, culinary delights and nearby wineries in the Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Barbara is a seaside paradise known as “the American Riviera”. The train station is two blocks from the beach and just steps from the popular Funk Zone featuring the Urban Wine Trail with 20+ tasting rooms. Santa Barbara County is home to three of California’s 21 missions, including Old Mission Santa Barbara, “The Queen of the Missions.” Cultural, culinary and environmentally friendly events are held almost every weekend, and include the annual Earth Day Festival, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival®, and Old Spanish Days Fiesta.
Adults can also explore the wellness spas, gastropubs, and shopping. Families will enjoy the kid-friendly attractions, including the state-of-the-art children’s museum, the oceanfront maritime museum, and the zoo! Stearns Wharf is a historic pier near the train station with casual and fine dining options, wine tasting, souvenir shops, a candy shop, and locally made ice cream.
Sounds amazing right!? We’re so excited!
