Our family of 6 has traveled to Japan twice and had the hardest time finding hotels that fit all of us. I want to share the hotels we finally found and stayed in while in Japan that were great for large families. We used Expedia or Booking.com apps to book our rooms. It was flawless to communicate with the hotels using the app’s chat functions. (not sponsored)
Tokyo Apartment Hotel
Hundred Stay in Shinjuku– We enjoyed the family bunk bed rooms for 6 as shown in our instagram post. (Update! We just found out today 1/26/26 that this hotel has changed ownerships and may not have reopened yet under the new ownership.) Here was the address, ( 2 Chome-27-7 Hyakunincho, Shinjuku City, Tokyo 169-0073) you can check on google often to see if the new owners opened back up yet. Meanwhile check out the Mimaru Hotels in Tokyo below instead which are also large family friendly.
Mimaru Hotel (many locations)- There are so many locations and some even have themed rooms. These apartment hotels are great for large families.
Fuji Hotel
Fujisan Onsen Hotel Kaneyamaen– This is an overnight experience and includes tea ceremony, a formal dinner and show. The traditional dinner and breakfast buffet is amazing!
Kyoto Apartment Hotel
Rinn Gion Kenninji Villa – Great central location to walk to the old town side in the morning and then to the modern side of town at night.
