The adorable new SoCal theme park, Sesame Place, will be celebrating their first birthday with special activities, exciting performances, and photo opportunities in March, 2023! All water attractions will also open on March 25 for the spring and summer season and the park will be open daily for Spring Break from March 25 to April 9.
This theme park is perfect for young kids and all of us who are Sesame Street fans at heart. Walk down that same familiar street and take pictures with your favorite childhood characters. We love the shows and the rides too.
The park has many exciting attractions including 18 Sesame Street-themed rides, an engaging musical play area, an interactive Sesame Street Neighborhood complete with the iconic 123 Stoop, daily live character shows, an award-winning parade, one-of-a-kind photo opportunities and of course, everyone’s favorite furry friends. The birthday celebration features colorful and festive birthday decorations, special birthday-themed entertainment including dance parties and pop-up character performances, the Sesame Street Party Parade, stage shows, and more. To commemorate the park’s first birthday, the water attractions will officially open for the spring and summer season on March 25 to join the other park offerings for families to enjoy sunny and splashy fun all day long! In addition, the park will be open daily for Spring Break from March 25 to April 9.
First Birthday Celebrations
Sesame Place San Diego is celebrating its first birthday in March 2023 with fun birthday festivities for the entire family to enjoy. Offerings include:
- Special Meet & Greets – There’s nothing like seeing furry friends dressed up for a special celebration! Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, and more will greet guests and take photos in their festive birthday attire during March.
- Birthday Pop-Up Performances – There will be special pop-up performances throughout the park with Sesame Street friends and dancers surprising guests with dancing, singing, moving and grooving!
- Furry Friends Birthday Dance Party – Guests can join Sesame Street’s furry friends for unforgettable birthday fun and show off their dance moves and capture memorable photos at this exciting birthday-themed dance party.
- Sesame Place 1st Birthday Party – Guests are invited to experience a very special 1st Birthday Party on Saturday, March 25! Sesame Place Park President Jim Lake will be hosting a special ceremony at 11:00 a.m. to commemorate the milestone with remarks, a birthday song sing-along, plus complimentary birthday cupcakes and Sesame Street party hats for all guests while supplies last.
Splash into Spring & Summer with OPEN Water Attractions
Beginning March 25, Sesame Place’s exciting water attractions will open for the spring and summer seasons. Guests can relax and float down Big Bird’s Rambling River, race down Honker Dinger Dash, swoosh down Snuffy’s Spaghetti Slides, and more! The park’s water attractions offer something for the whole family – toddlers and small children will love splashing around in Elmo’s Silly Sand Slides, while older children will enjoy the thrill of Cookie’s Monster Mixer and Oscar’s Rotten Rafts. The ALL-NEW Count’s Splash Castle will open this summer with double the splashes and fun with over 100 water elements to enjoy!

Spring will also bring all-new events including Elmo’s Eggstravaganza from April 1 to April 9 and Elmo’s Springtacular from April 15 to May 21.
